Flight FAQs

Passenger numbers and weight

Prices are per flight, not per person, so the flight price is the same whether there are 1, 2, or 3 passengers.

We can easily accommodate up to 3 passengers with a combined weight of up to 600lbs from Seaforth, Goderich, Wingham, and Kincardine airports. Seaforth has the most flexibility for heavier groups.

At Port Elgin and Lucan airports we can easily accomodate passengers with a combined weight up to 500lbs earlier in the day and up to 600lbs later in the day.

If your combined group weight is over this we can often still accommodate your group, please go ahead and book and we will contact you if a change is needed.

For groups of up to 6 people we offer split flights, where the total time you book will be split into 2 flights so that everyone can fly.

What ages can fly?

Anyone aged 2 and up can fly.  Every passenger must be in his or her own seatbelt (children cannot ride on someone’s lap).

How do we pay for our flight?

A small deposit by credit card is required at the time of booking to help us reduce costly no-shows and cancellations. For most scenic flights the remainder of the cost will be paid at the time of your flight and the preferred method is by cash, e-transfer to “PappleAviationFlights@gmail.com” or by cheque to “Summer and Tyler Papple (Papple Aviation). If none of these methods is possible, such as for out-of-country guests, we can take payment for the remainder of your flight by credit card but we will need to add 5% to cover processing fees. Some specialty scenic flights will require payment of the whole amount before the flight, this will be outlined in the booking form.

Flights booked with a gift certificate will be charged a $20 booking fee to hold your spot, when you arrive for your flight this will be fully refunded.

For Air Taxi flights, a deposit is due at the time of booking and the remainder is the day before the flight.

If the pilot deems the weather unsuitable to fly at your scheduled time you will receive a full refund of your deposit.  Please see our terms and conditions for full details about bookings, deposits, and cancellations.

What if the weather isn’t suitable on the date of our booked flight?

Plese see our weather information page

Can I choose specific sites I’d like to see that aren’t listed in the example flights?

Yes, we can custom design a flight to see any attractions you’re interested in at no extra cost.  For example, a 45min. scenic flight of one of our popular routes is the same price as a 45min. custom flight.  When filling out the booking form you’ll have the option to choose from one of the popular routes or select “other” and add the addresses, nearby intersections, or other details about the route you’d like to fly.

How much time will I get in the air?

Our flight times listed are calculated from when our wheels leave the ground until we touch down at the end of the flight. Time spent taxiing on the ground, waiting for other aircraft to clear the runway, etc. won’t take away from your time in the air. If you book a 40 min flight, for example, you can expect to be in the air for 40 mins.

What if I don’t feel well during a flight?

While it’s not common to feel unwell during a flight, it can happen and we carry bags, just like airliners do, for all passengers.  If you start to feel at all unwell during the flight please let your pilot know right away. If any passengers in your group are prone to motion sickness we suggest flying in the morning or evening when the air is typically smoothest.

How should I dress for a flight?

In the summer the climate in the plane is similar to outside, we have air vents for each seat, which provide a cooling breeze but we don’t have air conditioning.  There is heat for flights in the colder months.

Can I take photos?

YES!
